The red object

2007

Inspired by a visit to a disused slate mine, fascinated by the vast, cathedral-like rooms, the wondrous stratification of the stone masses, the morbid atmosphere, the fossils, primordially enclosed by earth and mud and pressed to the surface from the depths of the sea, ‘The red object’ was born.

The flexible tube made of merino wool exerts a multifaceted effect on the viewer. Through manipulation it takes on a variety of decorative forms, calmly resting, as it were sleeping. It exudes a magical feeling of hidden life of its own, of pulsating liveliness, waiting to awaken at the next moment.
